It is worth noting that Rubro-Negro played with one man less throughout the second half, as Carrascal was sent off after the break.

The game

The match started quite evenly, with both teams looking to maintain possession. Gradually, Flamengo began to occupy more of the attacking half and exchanged passes near the Corinthians' penalty area. The first good attacking opportunity for Flamengo came in the 13th minute. Alex Sandro rolled the ball into the box for Pulgar to volley home. The ball deflected off the Corinthians defense and went out for a corner.

During the free kick, Arrascaeta sent the ball into the box, Pedro headed it on, and Matheus Bidu cleared it almost on the goal line. On the rebound, Carrascal shot first-time, and Hugo made the save. The game was quite fragmented for Corinthians, who stopped plays with fouls. 

At 25 minutes, the São Paulo team opened the scoring in Brasília. Matheuzinho crossed from midfield to Gustavo Henrique, who headed the ball into the six-yard box, and Gabriel Paulista volleyed it into the net: 1-0. After the goal, Corinthians had more composure to exchange passes and continued to create danger for Rossi's goal.

In the final minutes, Flamengo pushed forward looking for an equalizer before halftime, but were unsuccessful. Corinthians were efficient in neutralizing Flamengo's plays and finished the first half with a partial victory. 

Before the game started, the referee checked the VAR regarding the incident at the end of the first half. After reviewing the play, Rafael Klein sent off Carrascal for an elbow to Breno Bidon. As a result, Flamengo played with one less player for the entire second half. Just three minutes in, they almost equalized. Arrascaeta took a free kick into the box and Pulgar headed it against the crossbar. 

Shortly after the 10-minute mark, Lucas Paquetá replaced Pedro, making his return to the Corinthians jersey. Following that, Memphis appeared to score Corinthians' second goal, but the assistant referee flagged Yuri Alberto offside in the build-up to the play.

During the game, Bruno Henrique replaced Arrascaeta. Flamengo continued trying, but found it very difficult to penetrate the Corinthians defense. In stoppage time, Ayrton Lucas crossed into the area and the ball fell perfectly for Paquetá, who controlled it in the six-yard box and shot over the goal. It was the chance that would have given them the equalizer.

In the final play of the game, Yuri Alberto sprinted forward and chipped the ball over Rossi to score Corinthians' second goal, sealing a 2-0 victory.
