Flamengo lost 1-0 to Corinthians this Sunday at Arena Corinthians in a match valid for the 16th round of the Brazilian Championship. The match's goal was scored by Rodinei (own goal). Flamengo remained with 21 points in the table.

The first half was fairly even, but it was Flamengo who had more shots and controlled the match. And the biggest chance fell to Vitinho. In the 30th minute, he received a beautiful pass from Victor Hugo, controlled it with class, and fired a powerful shot. Goalkeeper Cássio performed a miracle, and the ball still hit the post.

The second half remained evenly matched, but Corinthians took the lead thanks to a mishap by right-back Rodinei. Six minutes in, after a cross into the box, he scored an own goal.

Soon after, Flamengo had a great chance to equalize, but Cássio performed two more miracles. First, after Gabigol's header. And then, after Victor Hugo's shot. The Corinthians goalkeeper, it's worth noting, was named the match's best player for his three spectacular saves.

Late in the game, Pedro had a great chance, but shot wide. The striker didn't see Lázaro nearby. The second half was stopped for a long time, but the referee only added six minutes of stoppage time, and that was it: Corinthians 1-0 Flamengo.

- (...) The team performed well. We conceded a goal from a ball that hit Rodi. But otherwise, we managed to control the match. Playing here is never easy. We controlled the game," said Everton Ribeiro, who came on in the second half.

Flamengo returns to the field this Wednesday, at 21:30 pm, at Maracanã, to face Atlético-MG, in the second leg of the round of XNUMX of the Copa do Brasil.
