In their first game of 2021, Flamengo was defeated by Fluminense 2-1. The match, valid for the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship, was played on Wednesday night, at Maracanã. 

The game

Fluminense's favorite team played a great first half. They constantly attacked their opponents, who simply defended. The goal came in the 39th minute. Everton Ribeiro made a good run down the right and crossed. Fluminense's defense cleared the ball poorly, and De Arrascaeta headed it into the net.

In the second half, the opponent stepped up their game and made the match more difficult. Even so, Flamengo had excellent chances to score, such as a Natan header that went just wide of Marcos Felipe's goal. Two defensive mistakes ultimately led to the comeback defeat for Fluminense.

Mengão returns to the field this Sunday, at 16 pm, to face Ceará, at Maracanã, for the Brasileirão.
