Flamengo loses to Internacional
By Flamengo Archive - inWithout inspiration and lacking attention in key moments of the game, Flamengo lost 3-0 to Internacional this Saturday afternoon, at Beira Rio, in the 25th round of the Brazilian Championship.
With the loss, Flamengo risks returning to the relegation zone depending on the results of the remaining matches in the round. In the next two rounds, however, they will play at Maracanã to try to escape the bottom of the table once and for all: they face Cruzeiro on Wednesday and Vasco on Sunday.
The first-half performance virtually decided the match. After a shaky start, the team was beginning to level the playing field when they conceded the first goal: Léo Moura quickly took a free kick in the defensive half, Léo Medeiros didn't see the ball. Internacional recovered through Magrão, who set up Wellington Monteiro, who shot into the corner where goalkeeper Bruno was positioned, opening the scoring in the 19th minute.
The goal left Flamengo, who were distracted, listless. So much so that Colorado had two more chances, with Wellington Monteiro making another mistake in the red-and-black's clearance and Sidnei, following a corner kick. The second goal was only a matter of time away, arriving in the 44th minute, when Roger dribbled past Ronaldo Angelim and slotted it into Bruno's right corner.
The panorama did not change at the start of the second half: pressing, Inter almost extended the lead in the 6th minute, when Fernandão served Adriano, who shot and forced Bruno to make another great save.
As the game approached its end, Internacional slowed down, giving Flamengo opportunities to threaten the Rio Grande do Sul goal. However, Jaílton, in the 13th minute, and Obina, in the 19th, failed to score on their first two attempts.
Inter gradually regained control of the game and, before scoring the third goal, they were again thwarted by a spectacular save from Bruno in the 39th minute, stopping Adriano's shot. Four minutes later, however, there was no way out: Toró lost the ball to Alex, who crossed for Elder Granja to score and seal the 3-0 victory for Rio Grande do Sul.
