Flamengo was defeated 2-0 by São Paulo this Sunday at Pacaembu Stadium in the 30th round of the 2017 Brazilian Championship. Despite the loss, the team remains in sixth place, awaiting the result of Botafogo, who face Corinthians this Monday at Engenhão Stadium. Flamengo returns to the Brazilian Championship next Saturday at 19 p.m. against Vasco at Maracanã Stadium. But before that, in the CONMEBOL Copa Sudamericana, there's the Fla-Flu quarterfinal match on Wednesday at 21:45 p.m., also at Maracanã Stadium.  

Without Guerrero, who was still recovering, Rueda made several changes to the starting lineup. Berrío, Geuvânio, Everton Ribeiro, and Éverton took turns in the center of attack, putting a lot of pressure on São Paulo at home.

At the start of the first half, the teams studied each other closely. São Paulo, in a difficult moment, didn't come forward much to avoid giving the fast red-and-black players a counterattack. But it was the Tricolor that took the lead. In the 14th minute, a corner kick reached Lucas Pratto, practically under the post, who simply had to tap it into the net and open the scoring. 

The own goal opened up Flamengo, who pushed forward in search of an equalizer but had few opportunities to score. In the 23rd minute, Éverton broke free down the left but shot straight at Sidão, who saved and sent the ball out for a corner. São Paulo extended their lead late in the first half. Cueva ran down the right wing and crossed for Hernanes to finish, leaving Diego Alves with no chance, and the home side took the lead. 

The second half began with Lucas Paquetá replacing Geuvânio and Flamengo on top. Two minutes in, the team came into the game well, with Berrío, on the right wing, shooting for a good save from Sidão. Soon after, the Colombian was injured and Diego came on in his place. The team stepped up their game, attacking much more, but to no avail. The best chances came from outside the box, threatening the São Paulo goalkeeper. In the best opportunity, Rhodolfo headed the ball, and Sidão performed a miracle. The result of the first half ended up being the final score.
