It's still the holiday period. Actually, the football holidays have just begun, but only for the players. Flamengo's coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo is in full swing planning the start of the 2011 season, both on and off the field. This Wednesday (December 08.12th), the coach went to Macaé, a city in the north of Rio de Janeiro, to visit the Cláudio Moacyr de Azevedo Stadium.
Accompanied by the city's mayor, Riverton Mussi, Luxemburgo toured all the facilities of the modern sports complex, which can hold up to 20 people, but it is still not certain that Flamengo will play any matches in the city.
"We only made a visit to get to know the stadium's infrastructure and the field. We could play two or three matches in Macaé, but we still need to study all the logistics for that. We don't yet have an exact idea of what we will do," stated Vanderlei Luxemburgo.
The regulations stipulate that clubs can change the venue of matches up to 10 days in advance.
Flamengo would play the following Taça Guanabara matches in Macaé: against Americano on January 26th, and against Boavista on February 5th. There is also the possibility of Flamengo hosting a third match at the stadium, against Resende, on February 13th.
