Everything is ready for another decision! On Saturday morning (1), Flamengo carried out the last activity before the classic against Botafogo, for the Supercopa Rei decision. The duel between the red-blacks and the black-and-whites takes place tomorrow, at 16 pm, at the Mangueirão stadium, in Belém (PA). Mengão is looking for the third championship of the competition.
The red-black delegation landed in the capital of Pará on Friday night (31). This morning, coach Filipe Luís made the final adjustments, at Baenão, to the team that will enter the field this Sunday. After the activity, striker Everton Cebolinha gave a press conference to talk about the grand final.
"The atmosphere is great, the group is very confident, and the work has been well done, both in the games and in daily preparation. There's obviously anxiety because it's our first title, and it's also a classic. I'm personally very excited to return for the second title of the season, after such a long break, and I hope we can celebrate on Sunday," said the athlete.
Having recovered from surgery on his Achilles tendon in his ankle, Cebolinha was out of the team for five months. He sat out the pre-season in the United States to complete his recovery and returned to action last Thursday (30), in the 2-0 victory over Sampaio Corrêa, at Maracanã.
"Professor Filipe was very important during my recovery. He was always there in the DM, offering words of support, telling me how important I was to the team, how they would need me, how they would count on me, and how I would be a great asset. This makes the athlete much more confident, much more eager to return soon," added the striker.
The Supercopa Rei brings together the Brazilian champion (Botafogo) and last season's Copa do Brasil champion (Flamengo). Having won two trophies, Mengão is entering its fifth final in search of its third title.
