Catholic rivals, Colo Colo and La "U" fans greet the red-blacks at the airport

Flamengo has a friendly relationship with the Chilean people, as it has two of the country's idols on its roster (Fierro and Maldonado). Furthermore, this Tuesday (13.04), upon landing in Santiago, the red-blacks were greeted by rival fans from Universidad Católica and received a single request: leave Chile with a victory.

Always eagerly awaited upon their return to their homeland, Fierro and Maldonado were the most sought-after by the local press and locals awaiting the arrival of the red-and-blacks. Because both are associated with Colo Colo, the club they played for and support, the players remain idols to this day.

"I had to come here to take a photo with Maldonado and Fierro. Soon they'll be wearing our World Cup jersey. Besides, they're going to beat La Católica 3-0," said taxi driver Sebastian Torres, a fan of Universidad de Chile, who is battling Flamengo for first place in Group 8 of the Copa Santander Libertadores.

La "U" will face Caracas this Tuesday, at 22 pm (Brasília time), in the Venezuelan capital.
