He's staying! After finalizing the details, Flamengo renewed coach Jorge Jesus' contract. In an agreement with the Flamengo board, the Portuguese coach extended his contract with the club until June 2021. In the arms of the Nation, Mister, in less than a year, won five titles for the Mais Querido. The new agreement was signed this Friday (05), at Ninho do Urubu, and was attended by President Rodolfo Landim, Vice President of Football Marcos Braz, and Executive Director Bruno Spindel.

"We are very happy to officially announce Jorge's contract renewal. The players are thrilled with the news of his continued presence, as is the entire coaching staff. And especially the Red-Black Nation, who have been waiting for this good news. I know we are very happy. We have completed a crucial stage in the football planning process this year. He is our great leader throughout this revolutionary process we have been undergoing since the middle of last year, which culminated in crucial titles for Flamengo. I want to thank our members who continue to pay their dues. Thanks to you, this ceremony was possible," stated Landim.

Beloved by the red-and-black fans, Jorge Jesus said he was happy with the extension of his contract with the club and praised the strength of the Nation.

"If I'm in a place that makes me happy, that's the number one factor in my choice. I'm looking for sporting happiness, and that's what motivates me. Flamengo, and any club, is only great when it has a huge nation. When I arrived in Brazil, they already said it was one of the biggest clubs in the world in terms of fans. Today, fortunately, a year later, we're becoming increasingly bigger in the sporting arena as well. And the nation is part of this greatness. I won't forget the affection throughout this time; it was very important. In the first games, they won't be in the stadium, but they will be in our hearts. And we will always play for them!" said the coach.

Last Monday (01), Jorge Jesus completed a year in charge of the red-black team, with great performance. In 51 games, there were 38 wins, 9 draws and only four losses. He has more trophies won in the period than losses in charge of Flamengo. Under the command of Mister, the red-black team won the Copa Libertadores, the Brazilian Championship, the Brazilian Super Cup and the Recopa Sudamericana, in addition to the Taça Guanabara. In total, the team scored 118 goals and conceded 45.
