Having recovered from surgery on his right foot, midfielder Erick Pulgar trained with the group for the first time without restrictions. Meanwhile, Saúl worked out in the gym. The Spaniard missed the match against Bahia due to pain in his left ankle.
For the first time this season, coach Filipe Luís has his entire squad available for this FIFA World Cup, as no Rubro-Negro players were called up. Defender Léo Pereira and left-back Alex Sandro, who served suspensions in the last match, are also available for next week's derby.
Flamengo's next match will be crucial. After the match against Botafogo, the red-and-black team will face Palmeiras (October 19) at Maracanã in the Brazilian Championship, in the fight for the Brazilian title. Then, the Mais Querido faces Racing (ARG), also at Maracanã, on October 22, in the first leg of the Libertadores semifinals.
