In a match valid for the third round of the Conmebol Libertadores, Flamengo drew with Racing 1-1 on Thursday night (4), at the Presidente Perón Stadium, in Buenos Aires-ARG. Gabi scored the red-black goal in the match and became the greatest Brazilian scorer in the history of the continental competition. With the result, Rubro-Negro added four points and is in second place in Group A.

The game
The match started off quite lively, with intense competition for possession. The first good move from the red-and-black attack came in the ninth minute. Ayrton Lucas shot from the left side of the box, but the ball went wide.

Flamengo struggled to transition from defense to attack. In the 25th minute, Racing forward Hauche committed a hard foul on Ayrton Lucas, earning a second yellow card and being sent off, leaving the Argentine team ten men short.

With the numerical advantage, the Rubro-Negro began to occupy more of the attacking field, trying to create chances. In the 40th minute, Gabi missed the chance to open the scoring. Vidal launched a ball into the box, Erick headed it in, and the number 10 struck first time. The ball went wide.

In stoppage time of the first half, Mengão opened the scoring at El Cilindro with a stunning goal! From a set free kick, Erick sent a low pass into the box, and Gabi appeared unmarked to finish with her left foot. The ball went into the goalkeeper's right corner: 1-0. Flamengo went into halftime with the lead.

The red-and-black team patiently passed the ball around from foot to foot at the start of the second half. Racing, meanwhile, capitalized on Flamengo's mistakes to counterattack. In the 19th minute, coach Jorge Sampaoli made his first changes to the team. Pedro and Vidal were replaced by Bruno Henrique and Arrascaeta, respectively.

In the 27th minute, just after Wesley received his second yellow card and was sent off, Racing equalized with a free kick from Oroz: 1-1. With ten players on both teams, the game was open and Racing came forward.

In the 45th minute, Flamengo almost scored their second. Arrascaeta sent a low cross, Léo Pereira let it go, and from the rebound, Thiago Maia unleashed a powerful shot. The ball hit the crossbar. And there was no time for anything else. Flamengo drew with Racing away from home and earned four points in Group A of the Libertadores.

Next appointment
Rubro-Negro returns to the field next Sunday (7) to face Athletico-PR, at 16 pm, at Arena da Baixada, for the fourth round of the Brasileirão.
