HEADING TO THE QUARTER-FINALS! In the second leg of the round of 2 of the Copa do Brasil, Flamengo was superior throughout the entire classic and beat Fluminense 0-1 on Thursday night (XNUMX), at Maracanã. Arrascaeta and Gabi scored the goals that gave Mengão qualification for the quarter-finals of the national tournament.

The game
The derby started with a well-studied approach, with heavy marking in midfield. Flamengo pushed up the lines and pressed Fluminense's ball out, which tried to break through with passing. In the first ten minutes, the red-and-black team reached the opposing goal more frequently, but without any clear-cut chances.

From then on, Tricolor balanced the action and also maintained possession in the attacking half. The Mais Querido, with tight marking, managed to neutralize the rival's attacks.

Then, in the 32nd minute, Arrascaeta made the nation explode at the Maraca! Gerson carried the ball in midfield and launched it into the box. Fabrício Bruno headed it into the middle, and the Uruguayan finished, also with a stylish header, into Fábio's top corner: 1-0.

Even with the lead, Mengão continued to attack, looking to extend its lead. The first half ended with Flamengo ahead, a result that qualified the Gávea club.

Two minutes into the second half, Fluminense earned a corner kick. Arrascaeta took the kick, and Erick headed it over the crossbar. Fluminense tried to get back into the game, but were hampered by the red-and-black team's strong attacking.

Shortly before the 15th minute, Léo Pereira felt unwell and was replaced by Everton Ribeiro. As a result, coach Sampaoli abandoned the three-defender system and moved to a four-man defense.

In the 34th minute, Flamengo missed a great opportunity to score their second. Gerson regained possession, drove toward goal, and unleashed a powerful shot past Fábio. Cebolinha collected the rebound and shot against the post. Gabi collected the rebound and shot, but the goalkeeper saved it.

In the closing stages, another good chance was created. Everton Ribeiro spun on the ball, cleared his marker, and unleashed a shot that sailed over the crossbar. In the 45th minute, the destined Gabigol scored the second goal, sealing the red-and-black team's qualification. Wesley advanced down the right and crossed into the box. Cebolinha mishandled the ball, and it fell to the number 10 to tap in: 2-0.
