On Monday morning (12), Flamengo returned to Ninho do Urubu and began preparing for the decisive duel against LDU, which will be played next Thursday (15), at 21:30 pm, at Maracanã, for the fifth round of Group C of the Libertadores. Rubro-Negro needs the victory to stay alive in the dispute for one of the two places for the next phase of the continental tournament.
After the 1-0 victory against Bahia last Saturday, coach Filipe Luís previewed the match against LDU, demonstrating confidence in a positive result.
"We don't have to give our word; we have to show it on the field. You're right, we're having a poor Libertadores, we're in a situation we put ourselves in. The lesson is that there's no such thing as a weak opponent in the Libertadores. If they're there, it's because they were champions or finished at the top of the table. We put ourselves in this situation, and it's also in our hands to get out of it. It's up to us; we need the fans on Thursday to turn this situation around. We want to get past the group stage, reach the round of 16, and go as far as possible in this competition, which is the most special club competition in South America. It's up to us," said the manager.
The red-black squad returns to training this Tuesday morning (13) at CT George Helal. After the activity, left-back Alex Sandro will give an interview to the press.
