Flamengo returns and does light training
Players who played in the rout over Juventude have been working on their fitness. Roger is doubtful for the match against Goiás.
By Flamengo Archive - inLess than 24 hours after the 4-0 rout of Juventude at Maracanã, Flamengo returned to training this Thursday afternoon at Gávea Stadium. As usual, the players who played from the start completed physical recovery work in the club's pool. The remaining players completed a technical training session on the field.
Already looking ahead to this Sunday's match at 18:10 PM against Goiás, coach Joel Santana said he has practically decided on his team. The only question is the effectiveness of midfielder Roger, who left the game with pain in his right thigh and is still unsure if he will play.
"We'll wait for Roger's situation to be determined. I haven't even thought about who I'll start if he can't play," said the coach, who even left open the possibility of starting Maxi, Souza and Obina in attack.
Roger, by the way, stated that he is hopeful of being able to play, but emphasized that he will only do so if he is fully recovered: "Muscles are a complicated thing. If I don't play 100%, things might get worse and I might be out for one or two months. So let's act intelligently. Today I'm better and, if this improvement continues, I might be able to play."
