The youth teams of the red-black futsal team took to the court last Sunday (24/8) for the second round of the 2008 State Futsal Championship. The opponents were the teams from Mangueira, and Flamengo came out victorious in all three matches.

In the under-09 category, a repeat of the 2008 Carioca final, with another victory for the team from Gávea, with a score of 1-0. The under-11 category won 3-1 and the under-13 category 3-2. The youth categories have a rest in the next round.

The under-15 and under-17 teams traveled to Niterói to face Canto do Rio and returned to Gávea with a draw and a win. The draw in the under-15 category felt like a defeat for Flamengo, who opened the scoring eight minutes into the first half and then conceded the equalizer to Canto do Rio shortly after. With this result, Flamengo is in fourth place with four points. The under-17 team won 4-3 and sits in third place with six points, tied with Fluminense and Pentágono, the top three teams. Canto do Rio opened the scoring early in the game, but Flamengo equalized seven minutes in. Still in the first half, Flamengo extended its lead and went into the locker room leading 4-1.

In the second half, the Canto do Rio team grew in importance, particularly with long-range shots, and ended up scoring two goals, while Flamengo missed good opportunities to increase its lead. Late in the match, a disagreement broke out between players from both teams, resulting in a red card for each team. Both teams will have a bye in the next round.

The youth team, current Rio de Janeiro champion, continues training hard for its debut on September 6th, in Gávea, against the Portuguesa team.

Flamengo, the Carioca champions, debuted with a loss in the state championship. Facing the strong Mackenzie team, defeated in the Carioca final, the red-and-black team lost 8-5. Their next opponent is Casa de España.

Flamengo's senior team hosted Cabo Frio and ended up suffering a 5-3 defeat. Playing at home, with the support of their fans, Flamengo started the match well, taking the lead after two minutes and extending it five minutes into the match. However, the team felt a lack of options on the bench. In a dispute for the ball, Flamengo player Gabriel was injured and forced out of the match.

Cabo Frio, showing much greater play, equalized in the first half, scoring in the final four minutes. Ten minutes into the second half, Flamengo scored their third goal, a direct free kick. However, they couldn't hold on to the victory, and Cabo Frio equalized and turned the game around, winning 5-3. Despite the loss, Flamengo sits second in the Championship. Their next opponent is Canto do Rio, in Gávea.
