In a match valid for the 14th round of the Brazilian Championship, Flamengo beat Grêmio, 3-1, on Saturday night (10), at Maracanã. Goals from Willian Arão, Arrascaeta and Everton Ribeiro helped Rubro-Negro reduce the gap to Santos, the leader of the competition, to five points.

Reaching the opposing goal more frequently in the first half, Flamengo opened the scoring in the 28th minute. Arrascaeta received the ball unmarked in midfield and found the midfielder in a good position inside the box. With calm and style, the number 5 fired a superb shot to open the scoring: 1-0. At the end of the first half, the referee saw Pablo Marí's penalty on David Braz. Rafael Galhardo's penalty shot into the right corner leveled the score.

In the second half, Rubro-Negro continued to dominate and create chances. The second goal wasn't long in coming. Bruno Henrique made a beautiful solo run down the left, shot off the post, and on the rebound, the Uruguayan was opportunistic and fired home: 2-1. Gerson nearly scored the third goal in the 12th minute. The midfielder carried the ball down the attacking right and shot from distance, but the ball hit the crossbar.

Everton Ribeiro sealed the victory for Mais Querido in the 46th minute. The number 7 received the ball on the right, carried it, and shot into the right corner of Júlio César's goal: 3-1.  

Flamengo returns to the field next Saturday (17), at 19 pm, against Vasco, at Mané Garrincha, in Brasília. On the 21st, Mais Querido has the first game of the Libertadores quarterfinals against Internacional, at 21:30 pm, at Maracanã.
