Last Wednesday (31), Flamengo filed two lawsuits against the Rio de Janeiro State Football Federation (FERJ): one due to the lack of transparency in the management of the institution's assets and another to exploit advertising on the boards around the pitch, since today the institution has exclusivity in these negotiations.
Flamengo's legal vice-president, Flávio Willeman, states that the claim is in the interest of all members of the Federation and that the club preferred an amicable agreement to resorting to the courts.
"Flamengo is seeking a court decision declaring it the holder of the right to exploit advertising in the stadiums where it plays, which consequently guarantees it the right to negotiate directly with interested companies, without the need for mediation by the Federation. This right is derived from the Pelé Law, as a consequence of the arena rights. It is a long-standing claim of Flamengo and, I believe, of interest to all clubs, not obtained amicably. I am not saying that I take pleasure in filing these lawsuits. Quite the contrary, I would like harmony. But Flamengo acts and will act uncompromisingly in the defense of its rights and interests, using all means available to it in the legal system," he stated.
