In the eighth round of the Cariocão, Flamengo had a good performance and beat Botafogo 3-1 on Wednesday night (23), at Nilton Santos. Mengão's goals were scored by Pedro, Gabi and Arrascaeta. With the result, Mais Querido reached 19 points and is in second place in the championship.

The game
Flamengo started the match strongly, entering Botafogo's box twice in the first minute. It didn't take long for them to open the scoring at Nilton Santos Stadium. In the 8th minute, Arrascaeta received the ball on the left wing and crossed perfectly for Pedro to control with his chest and finish perfectly into the back of the net: 1-0.

The red-and-black team found it easy to create chances and reach the black-and-white goal. In the 15th minute, in a beautiful collective play, Arão passed the ball to Matheuzinho, who passed it to Gabi to pass to Arrascaeta. The Uruguayan gave a light touch with his right foot and nearly scored a great goal. The ball hit the post.

In the final stretch of the first half, the game became quite choppy, with numerous stoppages due to fouls and calls. In the 49th minute, Mais Querido doubled the lead! Less than a minute into the second half, Gabigol stretched a ball for Pedro to tap in. Gatito cut it back with his feet, and the black-and-white defense cleared it. With high intensity, the red-and-black team exchanged passes in the attacking half, looking for space to penetrate the box.

In the 18th minute, Gabi received the ball from Matheuzinho at the edge of the box and struck hard. The ball bounced off Gatito's right post. The Mais Querido extended their lead in the 27th minute. Matheuzinho found Arrascaeta at the edge of the box, the Uruguayan cut through the defense and fired a beautiful shot into the corner: 3-0.

Even with a large lead, Flamengo didn't slow down and continued to push for more goals. In the 35th minute, Marinho passed to João Gomes, who turned inside the penalty area and fired a cross-shot. The ball sailed just wide of the post. In the 39th minute, Botafogo reduced the deficit with an own goal from Léo Pereira: 3-1.

With an excellent collective performance, Mengão dominated the field and achieved an important victory in the classic played at Nilton Santos.
