Another Fla-Flu in 2017, but now for a different competition. This Wednesday, at 9:45 PM, at the Maracanã, Flamengo faces Fluminense in the first leg of the Copa Conmebol Sudamericana quarterfinals. The return leg (both will be at the Maracanã) will be on November 1st. Even though it's a match between two teams from the same city, the away goals rule applies at this stage.

The defeat last Sunday against São Paulo in the Brazilian Championship is already behind them. According to goalkeeper Diego Alves, the team is already focused on Fluminense and Wednesday's match will be completely different. 

"The Copa Sudamericana is completely different from the Brazilian Championship. Logically, we wanted to arrive with three wins; that was our objective. We didn't manage to play a good game in São Paulo, but I think the game against Fluminense will be completely different. The competition generates a different kind of energy in the teams, besides being a classic match," said the goalkeeper, who wears the number 24 jersey in the competition. This will be the seventh time the classic match will take place in 2017 alone. Flamengo is undefeated, with two wins and four draws. The two wins were in the State Championship final. In the first game, Éverton's goal gave Flamengo the advantage in the final. In the decisive match, they took the lead, but Guerrero and Rodinei turned the score around and secured their 34th state title, undefeated! Relive the goals below. 

In the 2017 matches, Willian Arão, Éverton, and Guerrero each scored two goals against Fluminense, out of a total of 10. The remaining goals were scored by Rodinei, Diego, Trauco, and Réver. 

In the four matches Flamengo played in the 2017 Copa Sudamericana, the team scored 14 goals and conceded only two. With two goals each, Everton Ribeiro and Willian Arão share the top scorer title for the team in the competition. The other goals were scored by Réver, Berrío, Leandro Damião, Rafael Vaz, Felipe Vizeu, Geuvânio, Vinícius Junior, Cuéllar, Juan, and Lucas Paquetá.
