Flamengo's final training session before returning to the Brasileirão was marked by its usual relaxed atmosphere and some new additions to the squad. For the first time, Marquinhos (midfielder), Cristian Borja (forward), and Vinícius (goalkeeper) participated in the training session led by coach Rogério Lourenço, but first, they had to pass through the now-famous Flamengo Polish corridor after being introduced to the squad by the club's executive director of football, Zico.
After the relaxation came the hard work. Aiming to neutralize the aerial game of Botafogo, their opponent this Wednesday (July 14.07), Flamengo's coach spent over an hour training the Flamengo defense on balls lofted into the box. Rogério adjusted the positioning for corners and, later, for free kicks near Flamengo's box. The reserves took over for the Flamengo team, and Petkovic and Juan took turns taking free kicks.
Marquinhos and Borja did not participate in the activity, but continued working with another group of players. Goalkeeper Vinícius trained normally with the other Flamengo goalkeepers. Val Baiano and Jean ran laps of the field, while Maldonado remained at the academy, carrying out muscle strengthening work.
Midfielder Antonio, who is injured, has been undergoing recovery work and Toró remains in the hands of the Medical Department.
Crack
As they always do on the eve of a game, Flamengo's players held a recreational session to finish training on Tuesday. And the new players who arrived recently have already been duly assigned to their rival teams. Marquinhos is part of the team with Juan, Kleberson, and Vinícius Pacheco, while Vinícius and Borja joined the team with Léo Moura, Petkovic, and David.
