With the need to secure a two-goal victory against Universidad de Chile in Santiago, coach Rogério Lourenço is already testing a new lineup for Flamengo. The Flamengo coach opted to withdraw Maldonado and Rômulo, who were experiencing right thigh pain, and bring on Toró and Michael for Friday morning's training session in Gávea. Wellinton trained in defense in place of David.

In his final training session before heading to Salvador, where he faces Vitória in the second round of the Brazilian Championship, coach Rogério Lourenço conducted a small-field training session and then began a quick training session. The starting lineup included Bruno, Leonardo Moura, Welinton, Ronaldo Angelim, and Juan; Toró, Willians, Kleberson, and Michael; Vagner Love and Adriano. The reserves included Marcelo Lomba, Everton Silva, Alvaro, Fabricio, and Rodrigo Alvim; Maldonado, Fernando, Fierro, and Vinícius Pacheco; Dênis Marques and Bruno Mezenga.

"Training today was good, we did tactical work with tomorrow's game in mind. We have to work the ball more, and we know that. We did that against La U in the second half, we have to do that against Vitória and get results," said Vagner Love.

In their debut in the Brasileirão, Flamengo drew 1-1 with São Paulo at the Maracanã. Vitória, in turn, lost to Palmeiras 1-0 at the Palestra Itália.
