Flamengo trains at Ilha do Retiro
The red-black delegation was welcomed with open arms by the entire Sport board.
By Flamengo Archive - inAfter a warm welcome last night at Guararapes airport in Recife, the Flamengo delegation was once again well received, this time by Sport's directors, this afternoon at Ilha do Retiro, where the red-black squad did their last training session before facing Náutico tomorrow at Estádio dos Aflitos.
According to Sport's vice-president, José Alves Oliveira Sobrinho, the Rio de Janeiro red-and-black deserves all the respect from the Pernambuco team and will always be very well received in Recife.
"Sport was very well received in Rio de Janeiro by everyone at Flamengo. This rivalry over the 1987 Brazilian title is only for the fans. Off the field, we deeply respect Flamengo and its achievements. Whenever Flamengo comes to Recife, Sport will be open to welcome them," the director stated.
Flamengo's football manager, Isaías Tinoco, reciprocated the affection by stating that the Gávea field will always be available to Sport when the team goes to Rio de Janeiro.
On the field, manager Caio Júnior organized a recreational training session for the players, which served to loosen up the atmosphere within the group. After the recreational activity, the players practiced free kicks and penalties.
