Flamengo's youth team lost 2-1 to Cruzeiro this Friday night (14/12) and is out of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship.

The red-and-black team started the match well, threatening the Cruzeiro goal. Vander created the team's best opportunities. The goal soon arrived, eight minutes in, when Paulo Sérgio skillfully finished off a beautiful cross from Deivdson.

With the advantage, Flamengo retreated and Cruzeiro pushed forward. The red-and-black team responded with dangerous counterattacks. In the 35th minute, left-back Diogo missed a great chance to extend the lead for the Clube da Gávea.

In the 43rd minute, Flamengo goalkeeper Marcelo came out late and brought down Cruzeiro's Zé Eduardo in the box. Vinícius took the shot and tied the match.

In the second half, Flamengo struggled to come back well and misplaced passes in midfield. In the 15th minute, Diguinho nearly scored for Flamengo with a beautiful header, but the ball hit the post.

Cruzeiro dominated the midfield and consistently created danger with crosses into the box. Flamengo felt the absence of Erick Flores, who was suspended due to yellow cards.

At the end of the match, the referee called a dubious free kick for Cruzeiro, just outside the penalty area. Midfielder Wallace took the shot, and Maicon finished, deciding the match 2-1 for the Minas Gerais team.
