Flamengo will face the first marathon of the year
With the Libertadores and Taça Rio underway, Rubro-negro will play nine games in a month

The voice of the people is the voice of God. This adage has been taken seriously in Gávea this first half of the year. The results of the poll on expectations for the Taça Rio revealed that fans (55,62%) don't just want to win the Copa Libertadores. The red-and-blacks also want their fourth state championship, and this mindset aligns with the club's planning.

After beating Macaé 4-1 last Saturday, the Rubro-Negro team started its campaign well. However, the marathon of matches from now on will be intense. Therefore, the team will have to work hard.
In Brazil, it's common to say that the year only truly begins after Carnival. And for Flamengo's soccer team, the season is also starting to get more complicated. From now on, the team will only have a full week to work again between March 28th and April 4th. In other words, it will play eight more games in the next 30 days.
The challenge is daunting, but according to fitness coach Marcelo Martorelli, the team will be ready. After all, the squad boasts quality and had an intense preseason in Porto Feliz, in the interior of São Paulo.
"For those who play, there isn't much time to train. It's only two or three days between matches. This period ends up being reserved for regeneration work, as well as technical and tactical work. But the team is prepared. The preseason was very good, and by taking the necessary precautions with nutrition and rest, the players will always be ready," he explained.
On the technical and tactical front, Andrade's assistant coach, Marcelo Salles, believes the group stands out in one way: intelligence. According to him, the players' understanding is excellent even after a single conversation, which makes the work easier, even with little time between games.
"Our squad has a lot of high-level players, and that makes things easier. Sometimes it's difficult to get things right in a two-game week, but with our squad, it's easier. The players have above-average tactical awareness and understand things just by talking," he noted.
