It Was More Sweet! On Mother's Day, the nation put on a show in the stands. Maracanã stadium was packed, and the team responded on the field. With goals from Vitinho and Lincoln, Flamengo defeated Chapecoense 2-1 and climbed significantly in the Brazilian Championship standings. 

First time

In the first half, Flamengo largely dominated the match. They opened the scoring in the seventh minute through Vitinho, who received a beautiful pass from Trauco. Flamengo continued to press and narrowly missed a second goal late in the first half. Lincoln was awarded a penalty, but goalkeeper Tiepo made a great save from Diego. The number 10 hit a beautiful volley on the rebound, but Tiepo palmed it away. And that was the end of the first half: 1-0 Mengão.

Second time

In the second half, the Mais Querido maintained their attacking mentality and quickly extended their lead. In the sixth minute, Ronaldo crossed into the box and Lincoln slotted it home: 2-0. The striker had another good chance after a great play by Berrío, but Tiepo made another fine save. Diego Alves secured the lead with some great saves. The goalkeeper, returning from injury, only conceded a goal late on after a well-placed header by Gum: 2-1.

Flamengo returns to action on Wednesday to face Corinthians away from home in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil round of 16. The match will kick off at 9:30 p.m. (Brasília time).
