By Romulo Paranhos - inQualified for the Round of 4! In the second leg of the Third Phase of the Copa do Brasil, Flamengo defeated Botafogo-PB 2-21 on Wednesday night (XNUMX), at Maracanã, and advanced to the next stage of the competition. Danilo, Pedro, Varela and Cebolinha scored for Mengão. The opponent in the Round of XNUMX will be chosen by the draw that will be held by the CBF.

After opening a comfortable lead, Mais Querido continued to control possession in the attacking half and scored the third in the 21st minute. Ayrton Lucas crossed perfectly for Varela, who controlled the ball inside the box and hit a cross to extend the lead even further.
Even with the game under control, Mengão maintained its attacking intensity and continued to create chances. In the 29th minute, Cebolinha received a good pass at the edge of the box, beat his marker, and shot powerfully. The goalkeeper made the save. Six minutes later, Henrique Dourado reduced the deficit for Botafogo-PB: 3-1. The fast-paced first half ended with the red-and-black team dominating.
Following the same pattern as the first half, Mengão scored early in the second half. Evertton Araújo passed to Varela on the right, and the full-back sent the ball into the box. The ball went past Pedro, but Cebolinha got right behind and headed it powerfully into the net: 4-1.
After the fourth goal, the red-and-black team slowed down a bit, and Botafogo-PB grew into the match, creating two chances: the first hit the post and the second was saved by Matheus Cunha. Noticing the team's drop in performance, Filipe Luís immediately made three changes at once. Varela, Gerson, and Michael were replaced by Wesley, João Alves, and Lorran, respectively.
In the 21st minute, Wesley delivered a perfect cross for Lorran to head into the corner. Michael stretched to make the save and palm the ball away. Botafogo-PB then scored the second goal through Rodrigo Alves, who connected from the edge of the box: 4-2.
In the final minutes, Lorran successfully stole the ball in midfield and passed to Pedro, who fired a first-time shot. The ball deflected off the defense and skimmed the post. Flamengo held on to possession until the final whistle and left the field with a place in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil.
