Qualified! On a packed Maracanã night, Mengão defeated Deportivo Táchira 1-0 this Wednesday (28), and secured a spot in the round of XNUMX of the Libertadores, finishing second in Group C. Léo Pereira, in the second half, scored the goal that sealed the qualification. Now, Mais Querido awaits the draw to find out their opponent in the next phase of the competition.

The game
In the opening moments of the match, Flamengo quickly occupied the attacking half, exchanging passes near Táchira's box. Four minutes in, Michael reached the byline and passed to Allan at the edge of the box. He struck hard with his left foot, but the goalkeeper made a save.

The Venezuelan team pressed up to make it difficult for the red-and-black team to exchange passes, as they tried to attack by moving the ball from foot to foot. In the 17th minute, Pedro received the ball at the edge of the box and played it to Luiz Araújo, who shot at goal, but the goalkeeper saved.

In the 31st minute, Allan received the ball in midfield and took a shot. The ball went into the corner, but the goalkeeper made the save. Flamengo continued to attack, looking for a goal. Arrascaeta received the ball at speed in the box, cleared the marker, jumped over an opponent's tackle, and fell to the ground. The referee issued a yellow card for believing the Uruguayan had simulated the penalty. The teams went into halftime with the score 0-0.

In the second half, Bruno Henrique came on for Michael and created a good move. The number 27 dribbled past his marker on the left and crossed into the box. Gerson appeared unexpectedly and headed the ball straight at the goalkeeper. Pedro almost got the ball home from the rebound.

In the seventh minute, another good play from the red-and-black attack. Luiz Araújo ran down the right, dribbled, and left Arrascaeta face-to-face with the goalkeeper. The Uruguayan misplaced the ball, and his shot ended up in the goalkeeper's hands. In the 20th minute, Mengão finally broke the deadlock, much to the nation's delight! Luiz Araújo took a free kick into the box, and Léo Pereira came from behind to finish into the goalkeeper's corner: 1-0.

In the final stretch, Flamengo held off the pressure from Táchira, who went all out on the attack. After five minutes of stoppage time, the referee blew the final whistle, and Mengão left the field with their place in the Copa Libertadores Round of 16 secured.
