Mais Querido defeated Macaé and Madureira in the second round of the state championship

Recovering from a poor start to the Rio Under-20 Cup, Flamengo faced two challenges last week and managed to emerge with their first victories of the second round of the Campeonato Carioca, one at Moacyrzão and the other at Gávea. Already champions of the Taça Guanabara, the Mais Querido have qualified for the state semifinals.

First victory
Last Wednesday (21), the Garotos do Ninho went to the Moacyrzão stadium for the match against Macaé. Thanks to an own goal scored by the opponent in the first half, Fla beat the home team 1-0 and won the first victory of the Taça Rio.
Home win
On Sunday, Mengo shook off the bad luck and secured a resounding victory against Madureira at Gávea. With goals from Bernardo, Théo, Pepê, and Yuri, the Rubro-Negro opened the scoring in the first half, sealing a 4-1 rout in the first half.

With the latest results, Flamengo takes third place in Group A with nine points, two wins, three draws and one loss. In the State Championship, the next red-black match will be on Sunday (1), at 10 am, against Portuguesa at the Nivaldo Pereira stadium. Before that, however, Mais Querido will travel to Belém (PA) to face Paysandu in the debut of the U-20 Brazil Cup. The match will be at 19 pm on Thursday (29), at the Curuzu stadium.
