The first half was balanced. América-MG took to the field trying to block the team's more creative players in the middle of the field, making it difficult for them to build up plays. The Minas Gerais champions launched counterattacks, seeking to catch the defense out of position by exploiting the speed of their forwards.

Flamengo remained firm and continued to press in search of a goal.

It came in the 32nd minute of the first half. Left-back Jorge stepped up to the baseline and delivered a perfect cross to Éverton, who made a good run inside the box and headed the ball home. The ball deflected off the ball, deceiving the goalkeeper and ending up in the back of the net.

The "Mais Querido" (The Most Beloved) returned for the second half looking for a goal that would give the match some peace of mind. The red-and-black side continued to dominate possession. A few chances were created by Gabriel, who replaced Éverton 20 minutes into the second half, and by Juan, who followed a corner kick taken by Diego, but was firmly saved by goalkeeper João Ricardo.

In the 33rd minute of the second half, replacing striker Fernandinho, young Thiago Santos entered the match and put in a promising performance. He produced some excellent plays down the left flank, with the most notable one ending in a shot by Jorge, which was deflected by the goalkeeper and curled over the post for a corner.

After three minutes of added time, the match ended with another red-black triumph.

In the next round, Flamengo will face Coritiba, in a match valid for the 36th round of the Brazilian Championship. The game will take place this Sunday (20), at Maracanã, with the ball rolling from 19:30 pm.
