In the first leg of the round of 1 of the Copa do Brasil, Flamengo beat Athletico-PR 0-28 this Wednesday (XNUMX), at Arena da Baixada, in Curitiba. The goal for the Rio de Janeiro team was scored by Bruno Henrique. With the result, Mengão will play with the advantage of a draw in the second leg, which will take place next Wednesday, at Maraca.
The game
Flamengo started the match valuing possession, exchanging passes in their attacking midfield with quick touches. Athletico, in turn, tried to play the ball out, but struggled due to the Mais Querido's pressing defense.
In the 17th minute, Flamengo created a dangerous situation. Everton Ribeiro found Isla in the penalty area, who passed to Pedro, who shot to Santos' right. Mengão then opened the scoring! Isla crossed for Pedro, who challenged the goalkeeper. The ball fell to Bruno Henrique, who tapped it into the back of the net: 1-0.
With the advantage on the scoreboard, the red-and-black team began to value possession even more, moving from one side to the other and finding space on the wings. Mengão went into halftime with a one-goal lead.
In the opening minutes of the second half, Athletico tried to pressure the Flamengo team, but Flamengo soon regained control. In the 10th minute, Walter unleashed a powerful shot on goal, forcing Hugo into a fine save. Then, Mengão came up the right flank with Isla, who reached the byline and crossed for Pedro's head, but goalkeeper Santos made the save.
In the 25th minute, Santos had a great opportunity to extend their lead. After recovering the ball, Bruno Henrique passed to Pedro in the box. The center forward controlled the ball and, as he was about to finish, challenged Aguilar. The ball went out of bounds. In the 33rd minute, Hugo Souza saved a penalty kick from Walter! Immediately after the move, Isla launched a counterattack and found Bruno Henrique on the left. He burst into the box, cut past the defender, and fired a shot. The ball grazed Santos' left post.
In the final minutes, Mengão managed to hold on to the result and left the field with a 1-0 victory.
