Another great victory for Mengão at Maraca! With a strong performance, especially in the second half, the "Mais Querido" defeated Athletico-PR 3-1 this Sunday in the 13th round of the Brazilian Championship. Pedro, Bruno Henrique, and Everton Ribeiro scored the goals for the red-and-blacks. 

The game

In the first half, Mengão had excellent chances to open the scoring. The most important one came in the 33rd minute. De Arrascaeta took a free kick from the edge of the box, but goalkeeper Santos made a great save, saving Athletico-PR. Before that, in the 14th minute, Pedro had a great chance. But Santos also did well, preventing the Mais Querido from scoring.

In the second half, Mengão's pace increased. Everton Ribeiro came on for Vitinho at halftime and, in his first attempt, in the first minute of the second half, unleashed a beautiful shot from outside the box, but Santos performed a miracle. The goal, however, was not long in coming.

In the 10th minute, Pedro controlled the ball beautifully, shook off the Atlético defense, and fired a well-placed shot, putting Santos ahead: 1-0 Mengão. In the 12th minute, the referee awarded a penalty to Mengão. Bruno Henrique shot on goal, but the ball deflected off Léo Gomes' hand inside the box. BH took the penalty and scored Mengão's second. 

Athletico-PR pulled one back with a header from Renato Kayser in the 21st minute. But Everton Ribeiro made it 31-3 in the 1st minute. Miteiro's shot from outside the box deflected off Athletico's defense, denying Santos any chances. 

Great victory that puts Mais Querido in fourth place in the Brazilian league with 21 points.

Flamengo returns to the field on Wednesday to face Sport in the Brasileirão at Maracanã Stadium. The match will be played at 19:15 p.m.
