FIVE-TIME CHAMPION! In another Copa do Brasil final, Flamengo defeated Atlético-MG 1-0 on Sunday afternoon (10), at Arena MRV, in Belo Horizonte. The winning goal was scored by Gonzalo Plata, at the end of the second half. Mengão had already won the first match, at Maracanã, 3-1. In total, the Mais Querido closed the score at 4-1 and won its fifth Copa do Brasil.

First time

Before the five-minute mark, the first big chance fell to the red-and-black team. Arrascaeta delivered a great pass to Gerson, who forced Everson into a fine save. After this first move, the match evened out, and the two teams engaged in a midfield battle. In the 13th minute, Hulk took a powerful free kick, forcing Rossi into a great save in two attempts. A few minutes later, Michael passed to Gabi, who attempted a dangerous shot, but the ball was deflected by Lyanco.

Before the 20th minute, Rossi made another great save from Hulk. The Atlético-MG forward hit a powerful shot from the edge of the box, and the Flamengo goalkeeper had to stretch to prevent the goal.

Ninho's youngster, Evertton Araújo, received the ball from Michael and shot from outside the box, reaching Everson's corner, who palmed the ball out for a corner. In the 36th minute, Arrascaeta received the ball on a run, and Lyanco committed a hard foul, stopping the counterattack and receiving a yellow card. Atlético-MG had the last clear chances to change the score before halftime, with aerial balls in the final minutes, but they were all cleared by Flamengo's defense.

Second time

After the changes, the game became more competitive in midfield, with both teams trying to better control possession. In the 7th minute, Rossi took a quick goal kick, found Bruno Henrique at speed, who shot, but Everson saved it again. Unlike the start of the second half, Atlético-MG began to put more pressure on Flamengo, especially with aerial plays, which created more danger for the "Mais Querido" goal.

In the 17th minute, Flamengo created a threat with a play by Bruno Henrique. He beat Atlético's defense to the pace and attempted a lob, but Everson deflected it behind for a corner. A few minutes later, Flamengo missed two great opportunities with well-planned plays down the right flank. In a quick attack, Bruno Henrique passed to Plata, who found Alex Sandro in the box. The full-back then took a shot, but forced another great save from Everson.

In the 37th minute, after a great opportunity was missed by Alan Kardec, Bruno Henrique delivered a beautiful pass to Plata. The striker dribbled past Atlético's defense and scored a stunning lob.
