Another triumph. With a consistent performance, Mengão defeated Coritiba 2-0 on Saturday night at Mané Garrincha in Brasília and moved up the Brazilian Championship standings. Coach Dorival Júnior's team reached 24 points and moved into seventh place. Gustavo Henrique, with a header, and Diego scored the game's goals. More than 30 red-and-black fans packed the stadium, another spectacle for the nation. 

The game

Flamengo controlled the match from the start, capitalizing on corner kicks to open up a lead. In the 12th minute, Lázaro took the kick, and Gustavo Henrique rose higher than anyone and slotted it into the net: 1-0.

In the 22nd minute, Marinho took a corner kick, Pedro deflected it, and Diego finished into the net: 2-0. What was already difficult for Coritiba became even more so. Especially because, defensively, Mengão was perfect. Goalkeeper Santos, by the way, didn't make a difficult save. 

In the second half, the game remained similar. Coritiba tried to get ahead, but without much success. Mengão, on the other hand, threatened with counterattacks.

Marinho, with a beautiful play, almost scored. Arrascaeta, who came on in the second half, took a chance with a free kick, but the ball went over the goal. Vitinho had a great chance one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but shot wide. Matheus França, meanwhile, ran into the Coxa defense after a good shot.

And now?

Flamengo returns to the field on Wednesday, at 20:30 pm, at the same Mané Garrincha, to face Juventude, in the 18th round of the Brasileirão.
