Flamengo beat Fluminense 2-1 this Sunday (12), at Maracanã, for the 11th round of the Brazilian Championship. With a great collective performance and two goals from Pedro, Rubro-Negro built the advantage at the beginning of the second half and secured three more points in the Rio derby.

The match marked the reunion of the teams after the final of this season's Campeonato Carioca, which Flamengo won on penalties.

The game

Flamengo started the match imposing an intense rhythm and pressing the opponent's ball possession. Just seven minutes in, after a mistake by goalkeeper Fábio, Samuel Lino set up Pedro with a first-time pass, who controlled the ball and finished quickly, even with his back to goal, to open the scoring with a fantastic goal: 1-0.

Superior in the first half, Flamengo continued to create chances. Plata had a great opportunity after stealing the ball in the attacking half, but his shot was saved by the opposing goalkeeper. Arrascaeta and Lino also participated in good offensive plays, keeping Flamengo in control of the game.

After the break, their dominance translated into an extended lead. Six minutes in, Samuel Lino delivered a precise cross from the left, and Pedro appeared at the far post to head the ball in, scoring Flamengo's second goal: 2-0.

Flamengo still had chances to extend their lead, including a shot from Pedro that hit the post, but saw Fluminense pull one back in the 31st minute after a mistake in their own half: 2-1.

In the final minutes, the match intensified. Fluminense tried to press for an equalizer, but Flamengo's defense held firm. Rossi made some good saves, and the team managed to hold onto the result until the final whistle, even after Carrascal's expulsion in stoppage time.

Having scored both goals in the match, Pedro reached important milestones wearing the sacred jersey. The number 9 shirt wearer reached 163 goals for Flamengo, surpassing Gabriel Barbosa and establishing himself as the sixth highest scorer in the club's history, in addition to consolidating his position as the top Flamengo goalscorer in the 21st century.

The striker also increased his prominence at the Maracanã, where he is Flamengo's top scorer in recent times, and reached his 72nd goal in the Brazilian Championship, becoming the club's leading scorer in the era of the points system.
