Flamengo defeats Macaé and secures a place in the semifinals
Marcelinho Paraíba and Zé Roberto scored the goals that put the red-black team in the semi-finals of the Guanabara Cup.
By Flamengo Archive - inWith a goal from Zé Roberto in the 42nd minute of the second half, Flamengo defeated Macaé 2-1 this Saturday afternoon at Raulino de Oliveira Stadium in Volta Redonda. With the victory, Flamengo maintained its 100% record in the Campeonato Carioca and secured an early spot in the semifinals. Flamengo leads Group B with 15 points.
Before the match, right-back Léo Moura received a plaque from the vice-president of football, Kleber Leite, in honor of the player's 200 games in a Flamengo shirt.
The Flamengo's first good chance of the match fell to Léo Moura. The number 2 took advantage of Everton's cross and fired a dangerous shot. Macaé responded with Jackson, who burst into Flamengo's box but was blocked by Willians.
In the 20th minute, Willians fired a long-range shot that scared Darci. Five minutes later, André Gomes received the ball at the edge of the box and fired a powerful shot. Bruno saved confidently. In the 27th minute, Obina received the ball from Ibson and finished for goal. The assistant referee flagged Ibson for a non-existent offside.
In the 32nd minute, Flamengo scored in Volta Redonda. Marcelinho Paraíba took a skillful free kick to put Flamengo ahead: 1-0. Eight minutes later, Roma passed to Jackson, who was brought down in the box by Willians. Wagner dos Santos Rosa awarded the penalty. Wallacer converted the kick to equalize: 1-1.
The second half began with Macaé looking threatening. Bruno missed a shot, and Roma had a chance to break the deadlock, but the number 1 recovered and blocked the striker's shot for a corner. In the 12th minute, Cuca brought on Jônatas for Marcelinho Paraíba.
In the 17th minute, Jônatas played a one-two with Obina and fired a low shot. Darci saved Macaé. Soon after, Cuca took off Everton and brought on Josiel. With the change, Zé Roberto was moved to the left wing. In the 23rd minute, Jônatas played a one-two with Josiel and passed to Obina. The number 18 passed to Ibson, who fired a shot over the bar with his left foot.
In the 29th minute, Cuca brought on Maxi for Obina. Five minutes later, Jônatas took a corner kick and Josiel headed it in, but Darci saved another. In the 41st minute, Fábio Luciano carried the ball down the right and crossed to Zé Roberto's head: 2-1 Flamengo.
