In the second round of the 2021 Cariocão, Flamengo beat Macaé 2-0 on Saturday night (06), at Maracanã. The Rubro-Negro's goals were scored by Rodrigo Muniz. With the result, Mais Querido won the second victory in the championship and continues with 100% success.

The game
Flamengo started the first half looking to attack. In the third minute, Michael made a good run down the left and rolled the ball back. João Gomes arrived, but the ball hit the crossbar. In the seventh minute, Pepê missed a penalty kick for Flamengo.

In the 10th minute, Flamengo created another great opportunity. Thiaguinho passed the ball to João Gomes, who overtook him and fired a low cross-shot. The ball flew past the goalkeeper's right post. Matheuzinho and Thiaguinho were Flamengo's best attacking options on the right side of the field.

In the 37th minute, Mengão opened the scoring! Pepê fed Matheuzinho on the right, who crossed perfectly for Rodrigo Muniz to head into the back of the net: 1-0. Michael then made a good run on the right, dribbling past the defender, cutting past the goalkeeper, and, despite the lack of an angle, sent a low cross into the box, but no one reached the ball. The first half ended with Flamengo ahead.

The red-and-black team continued to dominate possession in the second half, exchanging passes in their attacking half. Macaé sat deep, waiting for opportunities to counterattack. In the 20th minute, Mengão doubled their lead! Ramon received the ball on the left and lifted it into the box for Rodrigo Muniz to rise above the defender and head it past the goalkeeper for his second goal of the match: 2-0.

With a two-point lead, Flamengo had the peace of mind to manage the result and left the field with another important victory in the championship.

And now?
Mengão returns to the field next Sunday (14) to face Fluminense, at 18 pm, at Maracanã. The classic will be valid for the third round of the State Championship.
