Mengão won another Brazilian Championship match: 3-2 over Santos at the Maracanã stadium. Pedro, Marinho, and De Arrascaeta scored the red-and-black goals. With the victory, the World's Most Beloved reached 61 points and temporarily moved into second place in the competition.

In the first half, it was all Mengão. The goal just wouldn't come. There were at least five great scoring chances, with shots from Marinho, Cebolinha, Pulgar, Victor Hugo, and David Luiz. Mengão didn't come back as well in the second half and ended up conceding the equalizer. Alex headed in for Santos. But Santos soon got back into the game. Cebolinha had two good chances. Then, in the 32nd minute, Arrasca had the chance. The ball fell to Marinho on the rebound, who put it in the net.

And there was more. In the 41st minute, Arrascaeta, a second-half substitute, extended the lead with a stunning goal after a sensational counterattack. The assist came from Ayrton Lucas. In stoppage time, Santos pulled one back with Carabajal.

Now the focus is on the CONMEBOL Libertadores final. Flamengo travels to Guayaquil on Wednesday morning. On Saturday, the Red-Blacks face Athletico-PR in the final.
