In the 16th round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo beat Sport 2-0 on Sunday afternoon (15), at Raulino de Oliveira, in Volta Redonda. The goals for Mais Querido were scored by Bruno Henrique and Everton Ribeiro. With the triumph, Mais Querido totaled 27 points and occupies fifth place in the championship.

The game
The match began with Flamengo taking the initiative and exchanging passes in the attacking half. It didn't take long for Mengão to open the scoring! In the 10th minute, Arrascaeta received the ball on the left and crossed perfectly for Bruno Henrique, who headed it into the back of the net: 1-0.   

After taking the lead, the red-and-black team continued to value possession and create attacking chances. João Gomes even found the net, but VAR ruled him offside. The first half ended with the Mais Querido (Most Beloved) in front.

In the first minute of the second half, Flamengo extended their lead! In a great team play, Arrascaeta waited for Isla to overtake him, and the Chilean crossed into the box for Everton Ribeiro, who shot towards goal. The ball deflected off the defense and went in: 2-0.

In the 25th minute, Mengão made another good move down the right. Arrascaeta received the ball from Everton Ribeiro and crossed to Pedro. The center forward stretched out but couldn't complete the play. In the 37th minute, Vitinho took a corner kick and Pedro headed the ball from close range, but the goalkeeper made a great save.

Pedro then went on to score the third, but VAR ruled the play offside. Another strong collective performance from the Flamengo team, who left the field with another important victory. With the result, Flamengo is just one point behind the top four in the Brasileirão. 

Next appointment
Rubro-Negro returns to the field next Wednesday (18) to face Olimpia, at 19:15 pm, at Mané Garrincha-DF, for the second leg of the Libertadores quarterfinals.
