The game
The match began with Flamengo dominating possession, patiently passing the ball around to build attacks. Whenever Vitória had the ball, Flamengo pushed forward to try and steal it. On their first good attack, Mengão opened the scoring with a fantastic goal! Cebolinha controlled the ball on the left, cut inside, and laid it off perfectly for Pulgar to unleash a powerful shot from the edge of the box. The ball went into the top corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance: 1-0.
After the goal, Vitória was forced to push forward more. As a result, Flamengo retreated slightly and waited to try and break on the counter-attack. The home team persisted in attacking, but the Flamengo defense showed composure and cleared the danger. In attack, the Rio de Janeiro team found it very difficult to string passes together due to the high-pressure marking of their opponents.
In stoppage time, Flamengo were lethal again and extended their lead with their second shot on goal. Léo Ortiz delivered a beautiful pass to Cebolinha, who controlled the ball between the Vitória defenders, turned, and fired a low shot to make it 2-0. Flamengo went into halftime with a partial victory.

At the start of the second half, Vitória pulled one back through Matheuzinho. On a counter-attack, Renato Kayzer evaded three defenders and rolled the ball into the box. The number 10 was unmarked and made it 2-1.
Immediately after the goal, coach Filipe Luís made two substitutions, bringing on Plata and Carrascal in place of Pedro and Paquetá. In the 13th minute, Flamengo worked the ball in the attacking half; Cebolinha passed to Plata, who controlled the ball and took a placed shot from the edge of the box. The ball went just wide.
Next, it was Vitória's turn to attack. Nathan Mendes was brought down by Alex Sandro inside the area, and the referee awarded a penalty. Renato Kayzer took the kick, but Rossi dived to the correct corner to make the save. The Argentine goalkeeper shone!
During the game, De La Cruz and Samuel Lino also came on for Evertton Araujo and Cebolinha to give the team a new boost. In the final stretch, Flamengo began to have more possession of the ball in the attacking half and didn't suffer as much defensively. The last change to the team was the entry of Bruno Henrique in place of Arrascaeta.
In stoppage time, Flamengo managed to hold onto the ball in the attacking half, ran down the clock, and left Barradão with their first victory of the championship.
