The game
The match began with Flamengo trying to exchange passes to break out of their own half. Palmeiras, meanwhile, pushed up the defense and pressed the red-and-blacks' ball out to mount a counterattack.

In the seventh minute, the Mais Querido threatened twice in a row. Arrascaeta took a short corner, Gerson returned it to the Uruguayan, who crossed to the far post for Pedro. The number 9 headed the ball, but Weverton made a good save. On the rebound, Cebolinha fired a powerful shot, forcing the Alviverde goalkeeper to make another save.

In the 17th minute, Mengão opened the scoring, to the delight of the nation at Maraca! Gerson took a quick free kick, Erick Pulgar delivered a beautiful pass for the center forward to chip the ball past Weverton: 1-0.

With the lead, Flamengo continued to attack in search of more. Cebolinha won the ball back, made a good play, and took a shot from outside the box. Weverton made the save. And it didn't take long for Flamengo to extend their lead! In the 28th minute, Cebolinha controlled the ball on the left, cut inside, and sent a cross into the box. Arrascaeta headed it into the net: 2-0.

In the final stretch of the first half, the red-and-black team maintained control and went into halftime deservedly winning. An excellent collective performance from the team, which created good chances up front.

Early in the second half, defender Gustavo Gómez received a straight red card for a foul on Arrascaeta. The Palmeiras defender was the last man and stopped the Uruguayan as he headed toward goal.

Needing to score, Palmeiras had no choice but to attack, even with a man down. The Red-Blacks, in turn, managed to neutralize their opponent's attacks.

In the 18th minute, Mengão scored their third goal again through Pedro, the team's top scorer of the year! Arrascaeta played a one-two with Matheuzinho, and then Cebolinha. The Uruguayan passed to Ayrton Lucas, who crossed for Gerson to head into the middle of the box, and Pedro capitalized to swell the net. A great team effort: 3-0.

In the final minutes, the red-and-black team managed to manage their excellent result and left the field with an important victory for the club's Brasileirão aspirations. It's worth noting that, despite being in fifth place, they're only three points ahead of the leader.
