Flamengo accomplished its mission in its U-20 Brazil Cup debut on Thursday night. With goals from Patrick and Lucas Silva, both in the second half, the Rubro-Negro defeated Paysandú in Belém and secured its place in the next round, bypassing the need for a second leg.

In the next round, Flamengo will face the winner of the match between Vitória and Internacional. In the first match, the Bahia team won 3-1 at home. 

Even away from home, Flamengo outplayed their rivals for much of the match, dominating possession and the action. Wendel and Pepê created early chances, scaring goalkeeper Afonso and nearly opening the scoring. The first half ended 0-0, but Flamengo knew they had the means to take home the win. 

And the qualifying goals came in the final stage. In the 18th minute, the first goal came. Patrick headed the ball in from a corner kick, opening the scoring. 

With the advantage, Flamengo intensified the pressure even further. Just four minutes later, Lucas Silva collected a rebound from a free kick and fired home a first-time shot, scoring a stunning goal that sealed the victory. 

Paysandú was still trying to score the goal that would keep them in the competition, but Flamengo played well on defense and had chances to extend their lead, but it wasn't necessary. They secured their spot.
