The Flamengo team is on a five-game unbeaten streak. Since Dorival Júnior took over as manager of the professional team, Flamengo has won three games and drawn two.

Flamengo is currently in second place in the Brazilian Championship with 59 points.

Hey, Réver!

During the week of preparation for the game at Morumbi, defender Réver gave a press conference at Ninho do Urubu and stressed the importance of winning the three points away from home.

"The game against São Paulo is very important for us. We have a tough run of games ahead of us, and in the last match, we faced the league leaders in a crucial six-point game. This one will be no different. We're going there respecting São Paulo, but looking for the three points. That's our objective."

The number 15 player recalled the first-round match, stated that the situation is completely different, and guaranteed that Flamengo will be looking for the three points at Morumbi.  

"The situation is different from the first leg, when São Paulo came here and beat us. We've changed some players, and São Paulo's current form isn't what it was then. We know that once we want to win the title, we can't think about the opponent or the situation; we have to win. This game will be no different. We respect São Paulo; they're a team with a lot of tradition, but we're going to look for the three points we couldn't get at home."

Flamengo x Sao Paulo

Flamengo has earned 11 points out of a possible 15 in the Brasileirão (3 wins/2 draws). Since Dorival Júnior took over as coach, the team has not lost, scoring 11 goals and conceding only one.

The first match between Flamengo and São Paulo took place on December 8, 1938, and the Rio de Janeiro team won 4-2 in a friendly match played at the old Palestra Itália stadium.

Flamengo and São Paulo have played unforgettable matches throughout history. Some examples of these memorable games took place in the 1982 Brazilian Championship. Riding high after their recent Intercontinental Cup victory in Japan in '81, Flamengo defeated São Paulo 3-2 at the Maracanã (January 20, 1982) and won again at the Morumbi 4-3 (February 16, 1982).
