Flamengo returns to the field in a friendly against Atlético-GO

A clash between red and black teams in Goiânia will celebrate the city's 81st anniversary.

The ball is rolling again. In preparation for the rest of the season—especially the debut in the Brazilian Championship and the next round of the CONMEBOL Libertadores da América—Flamengo will face Atlético Goianiense this Saturday in Goiânia at 16 p.m. The friendly match will serve as a refresher for the teams during this window without games, in addition to celebrating the Goiás club's 81st anniversary.

In the final training session before the game, the team's interim assistant coach, Mauricio Barbieri, named the players for the trip to Goiânia. After Friday's training session, midfielder Lucas Paquetá spoke about the coach's relationship with the squad.

"Barbieri is an excellent coach; he tries to explain what he wants in his role and gives detailed instructions on how to play. He's trying to fix some things that weren't working out so well, and we're focused on Saturday's game, trying to give him a response, as he's helping us day-to-day," said the number 11.

FLAMENGO X ATLÉTICO GOIANIENSE

Of the fourteen games played between the teams in history, six were in Rio de Janeiro and eight in Goiânia. Flamengo has never lost to Atlético in Goiânia. In the eight games played in the city, Flamengo won six and drew two. Six matches took place at Serra Dourada and two at the former Pedro Ludovico Stadium (now Olímpico).

Of the 14 clashes, two were friendlies like Saturday's. Both matches were in Goiânia, with both results favoring the Red-Blacks:

- Flamengo 6x0 Atlético-GO (19/07/59), goals by Dida (two), Luís Carlos (two), Henrique and Adalberto;

- Fla 6x1 (28/01/65), goals by Fraga, Fefeu (two), Amauri and Evaristo (two).

Flamengo has played 47 matches in Goiânia in its history (23w/17d/7l), with 79 goals scored and 37 conceded. The last match in the city was in 2017, in the Copa do Brasil, against Atlético-GO, with Flamengo winning 2-1, in May, with goals from Guerrero and Matheus Savio.

LAST GAME
