On Kleberson's day, who scored twice, Flamengo scored again in the Brazilian Championship, but was unable to beat Vitória this Saturday (11.09), in Volta Redonda. With a 2-2 score, the Rio de Janeiro red-black team reached 23 points and remained in 16th place.
The star of the match, midfielder Kleberson, didn't leave the field happy. He made a point of emphasizing that the entire group didn't want a draw, but rather a win.
"I always try to do my job well. Whether it's on the sidelines, helping my teammates, or on the field. To do that, you have to always be prepared, and I was. I was happy to be able to come in and help. That's the most important thing. But I really wanted to leave the field with the three points," said Kleberson.
Flamengo played well again in the first half against Vitória. With the majority of possession during the first 45 minutes, the Rio de Janeiro club managed to create some good scoring opportunities, but still failed to find the net. Flamengo's biggest chance came in the 10th minute, following a good play by Everton Silva. Toró received the ball from his teammate, but, off balance, was unable to convert.
Vitória had little possession, but a few scoring chances. Flamengo goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba worked well on at least four occasions, most of which were created by Ramon and finished by striker Junior.
For the second half, coach Silas made changes to his lineup, bringing on Ronaldo Angelim and Kleberson, dismantling the three-defender system that surprised everyone in Volta Redonda. But goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba was Flamengo's standout performer once again. Just five minutes in, he saved a shot from Junior one-on-one.
In the ninth minute, Flamengo responded and nearly scored. Everton Silva made another good play, reaching the byline and crossing. Kleberson controlled the ball inside the box and re-crossed, but Vitória's defense cleared it, nearly scoring an own goal. In the 20th minute, Flamengo from Rio de Janeiro had another good chance. Juan was released by Kleberson and crossed into the box, but Val Baiano couldn't control the ball to finish.
Wanting to add more pace to the team, Silas swapped midfielder Petkovic for promising prospect Galhardo, a right-back by trade but introduced to play in midfield. However, the change didn't even have time to take effect. Vitória found the net. Ramon lofted the ball into the box, and Junior headed it in from inside the six-yard box.
With the score down, Silas made another change to his team. He took off Everton Silva and brought on young striker Diego Maurício. And it was he who provided the pass that led to Flamengo's goal. Diego Maurício received the ball on the right, beat a defender, entered the box, and passed it to Kleberson, who calmly slipped past another defender and slotted it into the corner of the net past Vitória's goalkeeper.
The fans woke up and cheered, but Flamengo ended up conceding a second goal. Schwenck received a pass at the edge of the penalty area, on the left side of Vitória's attack, and fired home a first-time shot: a stunning goal. But the Rio de Janeiro fans didn't even have time to mourn. Kleberson scored again and tied the game. After a play by Galhardo, Val Baiano was one-on-one with his shot against the post, but the ball, capriciously, fell to the Flamengo midfielder to tap into the net.
To top off Kleberson's stellar performance, a ball hit the post. He received the ball on the left flank at the edge of the box, cut inside, and fired a shot. The ball capriciously bounced off Viáfara's crossbar, sealing the draw at the Raulino de Oliveira stadium.
