It seems like a small number, but if Marcelo Lomba manages to be on the field for all of them, it will be a great victory for the Flamengo goalkeeper. A self-confessed goal-hungry player, he doesn't want to miss any games so he can always help the team. But for that to happen, he'll have to play without receiving any yellow cards, since he already has two and would be suspended with a third.
The fact doesn't worry the young goalkeeper, but he also doesn't forget about it, assuring that he doesn't think about the two yellow cards he has when he steps onto the field to defend Flamengo's goal.
"I want to play every game, even more so now. I can't think about the two yellow cards, but I can't waste too much time either. I have to control myself well. Cantareli talks to me about this and helps me a lot. I hope I don't get any more cards until the end so I don't have to leave the team," said Lomba, explaining that he is not worried about being substituted.
"It's not a question of giving an opening or not. I know all the goalkeepers are prepared, but I want to help Flamengo. It's a personal thing. It was very difficult to get here and the more I play, the more I can help Flamengo," explained the Flamengo goalkeeper.
Even if he didn't make it into the team under normal circumstances, Lomba takes away a lot of learning from 2010, which can help him and the club in the coming year.
"This year was good, as I gained experience. With each passing game, I gain more. In the beginning, I was improving my footwork, seeking more composure, but I already had a good understanding with the defense. This only improved, and from now on I hope to advise more young players when they come in. This leadership role of the goalkeeper is important," he concluded.
