On Sunday afternoon (6), Flamengo lost to Coritiba 1-0, in Paraná, for the 36th round of the Brazilian Championship. With the result, the current champion of the Copa do Brasil and Libertadores da América goes to fifth place in the competition table.

The Most Beloved returns to the field on Wednesday (9), to face Juventude, still away from home, for the 37th round of the Brasileirão. Following that, they face Avaí, at Maracanã, on Sunday (13), to end the club's victorious season.

 

The game

 

Flamengo started the match dominating the offensive play. Cebolinha and Marinho were creating danger down the flanks. The "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved) pressed the opponent's build-up play from their own penalty area. 

Flamengo's first chance came with Pablo, after a dribble and cross from Marinho. The defender headed the ball over the bar. With Marinho, Flamengo had another opportunity after a beautiful shot from outside the area.

Coritiba escaped on counter-attacks, but Hugo made good saves. In the final stretch of the first half, Hugo made a great save from an opponent's free kick, ensuring the score remained 0-0 at halftime.

Flamengo returned for the second half with possession of the ball, looking for chances to take the lead. But in the 11th minute, after a VAR check, the referee awarded a penalty to Coritiba. Alef Manga converted the penalty, making it 1-0.

Flamengo fought until the end, but the opponent's penalty goal sealed the final score.

In the final stretch of the Brazilian Championship, Flamengo will play against Juventude, away from home, on November 9th, and then finish the Brasileirão against Avaí, at the Maracanã, on the 13th.
