In a match valid for the fourth round of the group stage of the Libertadores, Mengão beat Barcelona de Guayaquil 2-1 this Tuesday (22), at the Monumental de Barcelona stadium, in Ecuador. The goals for Mais Querido were scored by Pedro and De Arrascaeta in the first half.

O JOGO
Flamengo started the first half showing great determination and, just four minutes in, opened the scoring. Gerson advanced down the left, cut inside the defender and found Pedro at the edge of the box. The striker shot low into the back of the net: 1-0.

At 17 minutes, Flamengo almost scored their second goal. Arrascaeta received the ball freely at the edge of the area, turned and shot with his left foot, but Burrai parried it away. In the following play, Everton Ribeiro tried a long-range shot, and the goalkeeper made another save. At 25 minutes, Flamengo extended their lead! Pedro made a good pivot play and set up Everton Ribeiro on the right. The midfielder launched the ball to Arrascaeta, who was free in the area; the Uruguayan controlled the ball and slotted it past the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

Throughout the first half, Flamengo pressured Barcelona's build-up play and made it difficult for their opponents to string passes together. Towards the end, Barcelona launched a dangerous counter-attack and almost scored for the Ecuadorian side. However, Flamengo finished the first half with a two-goal lead.

At the start of the second half, Barcelona reduced the deficit with a goal from Emmanuel Martínez: 2-1. Immediately afterwards, Flamengo responded with Pedro, who almost scored his second goal. In the 11th minute, the Ecuadorians came close to scoring. Jonatan Álvez went down the left and tried a shot from outside the box. The ball went just wide of César's goal. In the final minutes, Barcelona tried to pressure the Flamengo team, who managed to control the game well and leave the field with an important away victory: 2-1.
