Flamengo traveled to Porto Alegre this Sunday (11/1) to face Grêmio and suffered a 2-0 defeat. The Mais Querido dominated the first half and played a balanced match in the second, but it was the home team who scored. The Rubro-Negro played with ten men for half an hour, after Guerrero was sent off in the 19th minute of the second half.

Flamengo's next game in the Brazilian Championship is against Goiás, next Sunday (08.11), at Maracanã, at 17 pm.

The game
Flamengo started the game with a clear plan: dominate possession, exchange passes, and pressure the home team in defense. The strategy was well executed, and the Rubro-Negro dominated the first half. With Jorge on the left and Canteros on the right, Flamengo threatened the opposing goal with plays from the wings in the first 20 minutes. Jajá, a product of the youth academy, showed personality and provided good movement in the midfield. Canteros almost opened the scoring in the 38th minute, when Guerrero stole the ball on the right and sent in a low cross. The Argentine midfielder attempted a backheel shot, but the ball hit the outside of the net. The first half ended goalless.

In the second half, Flamengo pushed Grêmio even harder. Taking advantage of a counterattack, Luan passed the ball to Everton, who scored for the home team in the sixth minute. In the 13th minute, Guerrero received a yellow card. Dissatisfied with the referee's decision, he complained. The referee then decided to send him off. With the result unfavorable and one player down, Oswaldo resorted to substitutions to try to turn things around. Midfielder Thiago Santos made his professional debut, replacing Luiz Antonio. Canteros replaced Kayke, and Ronaldo was another youngster from the youth academy to make his official debut for Flamengo, replacing Jajá. Despite the changes, it was Grêmio who found the net. On the counterattack, Bobô scored the home team's second goal and sealed the victory.
