After reaching third place in the 2007 State Futsal Championship, Flamengo strengthened itself for the 2008 season. To do so, the board sought players who stood out even against arch-rivals, Vasco da Gama.

This is the case with winger Douglas, winger and defensive tackle Marcelino, and center Jesus. For Douglas, who claims to have been a Flamengo fan since he was a little boy and a passionate fan of CRF, the team is stronger and has everything it needs to have an even better 2008 than last year.

"We have a better chance of winning the championship this year. Of course, the players who left will be sorely missed, but the team has managed to maintain its core and strengthen itself well. I think we can have a good run in the 2008 season."

Center Jesus, another Flamengo fan, emphasizes the importance of his passion for Flamengo in his decision to support his beloved club.

"Certainly, being a fan influenced my decision to come to Flamengo. But so did the opportunity to return to Rio and continue studying."
