Futsal says goodbye to the dream of winning the championship twice
Flamengo loses 4-1 in Petrópolis and is out of the State Futsal Championship
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inFlamengo's dream of winning the state futsal championship for the second time ended on Wednesday night. Playing away from home at the UCP Gymnasium in Petrópolis, coach Cid Escarlate's team played well, but ended up losing 4-1 to PEC in the second leg of the Rio de Janeiro Adult Futsal State Championship semifinals and is eliminated from the competition. Régis scored the red-and-black goal, but Bruno (2), Mancha, and Vinícius scored for the reigning metropolitan champions.
\The score, however, doesn't reflect the game itself. Petrópolis, as the home team, pushed for the win, but Flamengo pressed deep and gave them no space. Even so, Bruno opened the scoring in the ninth minute for PEC. The red-and-blacks, however, didn't let it slide and equalized late in the first half. The goal buoyed the team from Gávea, but Mancha dealt Flamengo a heavy blow in the 16th minute, putting the team from Serra back in front.
\In the end, Cid still tried to use Michel Marques as a goalkeeper, but due to two positioning errors, Fla conceded two more goals that sealed Petrópolis' 4-1 victory. At the end of the game, Michel lamented the result, but praised the spirit of the team, who fought until the end.
\"The game was tough and the score is a lie. We fought hard, we played evenly, but we ended up conceding two goals from two mistakes when we already had the goalkeeper in the back. That's it. Unfortunately, we're out. We really wanted this second championship, but it didn't happen," he explained.
\In 2008, Flamengo won the state championship by defeating Cabo Frio 3-2 away from home in the second leg of the final. This time, the team will not advance to the final, which will be between Cabo Frio and Petrópolis. The Rio de Janeiro Futsal Federation (FFSERJ) has not yet decided on the dates for the final games.
